A matcha bowl (chawan, 茶碗) is used to prepare Japanese matcha tea. The matcha is whisked in the chawan using a bamboo whisk. This large chawan is made from premium stoneware and glazed according to the Japanese custom, leaving the bottom of the bowl without a glaze. The image clearly shows that the bowl has been made and glazed by hand.
