Öko Caribe is a cacao processor in Duarte, founded by Adriano de Jesus Rodriguez and Gualberto Acebey Torrejon, that works with 165 cocoa farmers. The cacao trees grow among bananas, avocados, oranges and other tropical fruits. Öko Caribe also provides organic farming training to their producing partners to improve the quality of their harvests to improve their livelihoods with higher prices.
This chocolate is completely processed from bean to bar by Jean-Christophe Hubert of Millésime, one of the rare chocolatiers in Belgium to work straight from the cacao bean. From producing the cacao harvest to roasting the cacao beans to crafting the chocolate, they take care of every step of the journey themselves. You can taste this in the flavour of the chocolate.
