Ishema washing station is located in an excellent coffee-growing region, with fertile volcanic soils and consistent annual rainfall of around 1,250–1,300 mm. Since being acquired by C. Dorman Rwanda, the station has been recently upgraded with modern processing equipment, such as a new pulper, five fermentation tanks, and 130 drying tables where coffee like this natural processed Bourbon was dried.
Coffee cherries from 674 smallholders are carefully sorted, fermented, soaked, and sun-dried using a tightly controlled process that includes wastewater treatment and multiple quality checks to ensure a clean, consistent cup. Beyond production, the station supports long-term sustainability through community projects such as schools, farmer training, clean water infrastructure, free shade trees, and numerous certifications that reflect the team’s strong commitment to quality and environmental responsibility.
