The XXL Lazy & Relax Mug Spruzzi is a hand-turned extra-large mug with blue-black dots. Noot & Swart Ceramics turns each mug by hand in their Utrecht studio. Sometimes it has to be redone 3 times because the clay has to be turned so thin for these lightweight mugs.
Suus demonstrates the most difficult step: using a special sponge to scrub away unevenness near the ear when the mug is not yet baked. They are then super fragile.
Noot & Swart had a ceramics store on the Zwaanshals in Rotterdam years ago and created the timeless design for this mug back then.

About the making process
This mug is made with the “magnesite” type of white glaze. It is a kind of satin gloss with different shades of white, like magnesite. As a result, it is also an unpredictable glaze. They are turned by hand in Noot & Swart’s studio in Utrecht and baked high at 1220 degrees. Every time it is a surprise when you get to open the door of the cooled oven.
